Autopilot Drones

Shanghai, China - January 25, 2016 - Innova Research recently visited CES 2016 held in Las Vegas. While a large number of innovative electronics products were brought to the show, autopilot drone was one of the product categories attracted the most attentions. In a market research report, entitled "The World Market for Drones - 2015 Edition", Innova Research estimated the world autopilot drone market to worth $73.0 million in 2015 and forecast this market to grow to $261.0 million in 2020 with a 30.8% CAGR for the period.

Traditional drones are operated by pilots via remote controllers. However, the costs of hiring well-trained drone pilots are high. Moreover, when more and more drones are in use and the sky gets more and more crowded in the future, it will become harder and harder for pilots to control the drones manually. Autopilot drones are integrated with multiple sensors to allow themselves to avoid obstacles, such as trees, buildings, or other drones, automatically. There is little doubt that autopilot is a technology trend in the drone market, especially for commercial drones that are required to conduct complicated tasks.

Richard Jun Li, Vice President of Innova Research commented:" Although the autopilot drone market was small comparing to the size of the traditional drone market in 2015, the autopilot drone market is projected to grow rapidly in the next five years. The high growth of autopilot drone shipments is expected to bring large opportunities for relevant sensor suppliers, suppliers of positioning systems, and other relevant electronics system suppliers in the drone value chain."
